The Patrol Division, commanded by Captain Craig Coleman, is located at the Adams County Sheriff's Office Commerce City Substation. The Patrol Division is comprised of ten sections: Patrol, Plains, Administrative, Crime Prevention, Gang, Traffic and DUI, as well as the D.A.R.E., School Resource programs and a Community Resource Team. Our Patrol Division employs one Captain, three Lieutenants, eleven Sergeants, ninety-six Deputies, five Traffic/DUI Deputies, four School Resource Officers, three gang Deputies, three Community Service Specialists, one Traffic Clerk, and two Administrative Assistants.
The Adams County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division is the division charged with providing protection and law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Adams County. Although our primary function is the enforcement of laws and ordinances, we also participate in several proactive activities. Some of these programs include crime prevention, community policing and enforcement, traffic enforcement, D.A.R.E and other activities designed to maintain our ties with the communities we serve, promote partnerships and make Adams County a better, safer place to live and work.
The goal of the Patrol Division is to provide professional and competent law enforcement services in a timely manner. As our county changes and grows, the Adams County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division must change and grow in a similar fashion.
The needs and demands of the community are growing, along with our calls for service. On a daily basis Patrol deputies are challenged to keep pace with service requests from our citizens.
Our desire for the future is to become increasingly proactive. The old philosophy of re-active policing is no longer feasible. The Patrol Division can only stem the tide of calls for service by becoming more active in areas and neighborhoods that are suffering the negative effects of criminal behavior.
That proactive plan includes you. Relationships and familiarity with the community, citizens, and business owners is a must. Through joint ventures and partnerships our communities will enjoy positive changes. Ownership in your neighborhood is the best way to promote public safety and make Adams County a better and safer place to live, work, and raise our families.
