JAIL VISITING INFORMATION |
Inmate Visitation Information
All inmate visitors must register and complete a visit form at the Front Desk. Visitors age 18 or over must present a valid, government issued, picture ID.
Visitors to the Adams County Jail communicate with inmates, outside the secured area of the Jail, via remote video fom the Front Lobby. In rare instances, a visitor may still be sent to a housing unit for the visit. When that occurs, the visitor will receive a WHITE ID tag with a colored dot corresponding to the module they will be visiting.
If a visitor must enter the secured area of the Jail, their briefcases, files, containers, overcoats, purses, etc. will be visually inspected for unauthorized items. Lockers are available in the visiting lobby. Non law enforcement visitors are allowed no cell phones or pagers inside the secured area of the Jail while visiting an inmate.
Visitors may be scanned with an electronic detector. If cause exists, a visitor may be ‘pat searched’ by a deputy. The visitor may decline their visit rather than submit to such a search. However, if a visitor refuses to consent to an electronic search, he or she will be denied access to the facility.
Any visitor may be refused a visit at any time whenever conduct, previous conduct, or appearance would threaten the security or orderly running of the facility.
SOCIAL VISITORS
- Because there is only one telephone for audio at each visiting station, social visitors will be limited to two persons at one time, including children over the age of 6. An adult may hold a child (aged 6 or under) on their lap while visiting. An adult with a child under 6 shall count as one visitor. A visitor may visit only once per calendar week. The calendar week runs from Sunday through Saturday.
- The Jail limits social visits to 30 minutes due to the size of the inmate population. Jail employees will allow 5 minutes for the inmate to receive notification of the visit and get to the visiting station in his or her housing area. Video visits are computer controlled and will automatically terminate the visit at 30 minutes.

JUVENILE VISITATION
1. The Colorado Children’s Code provides for visitation for juveniles in Adams County custody.
2. Juvenile visitation shall be granted daily to immediate family members and weekly to anyone else who are not immediate family. Immediate family means: grandparents (both paternal and maternal), mother, father (may include stepmother and stepfather), brothers, and sisters. Non-immediate family or friends must be at least 18 or, if not 18, accompanied by an adult. The Administrative Sergeant, or his designee, must approve deviations to this procedure. If such a deviation is required, please call the Administrative Sergeant at (303) 654-1850, dial 0, and ask to be connected.
3. Each immediate family visitor will be allowed one visit per day for up to thirty (30) minutes. All other standard visitation rules/procedures will be in effect. Visiting times will be the same as general social visitation.
4. Special visitations will further be permitted at any time as long as it does not interfere with the orderly running of the Facility and are primarily scheduled through the Administrative Sergeant. However, the Duty Sergeant may also approve any special visit.
5. After hours, Records personnel may approve a special visit if the visitors have out-of-state identification and have never visited the inmate previously.
VISITORS WITH RESTRAINING ORDERS
On occasion, inmates will receive social visits from persons with whom Restraining Orders and or Protection Orders exist. Because the Adams County Detention Facility does not have ready access to information at the Front Desk to confirm the validity and/or dates of effect of such orders, the Front Desk or other personnel processing visitors will not enforce Restraining Orders. When such restraining orders or protection orders are known to employees and staff, and confirmed, the Orders will be enforced.
Issues or concerns with the visiting process may be shared with Front Desk employees.
If you have questions about the visiting process, please contact the Adams County Jail at (303) 654-1850.
