Emergency Management is a comprehensive and integrated approach for managing local hazards and protecting people and property from the effects of disaster events that cannot be prevented.
The Adams County Office of Emergency Management coordinates the efforts of all county agencies and departments in coping with emergencies, disasters and terrorist threats by preparing, responding, recovering and mitigating incidents. The office must satisfy the requirements mandated by the county, state and federal governments pertaining to preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation programs. The county office develops program papers and reports for the State Office of Emergency Management to remain eligible for federal funding.
The county office serves as a resource for local municipalities, all residents and all businesses within the county for information and/or assistance. The county office is a liaison between the local municipalities within the county and the state level. The county office works in cooperation with the state, local municipalities and surrounding jurisdictions to ensure compliance and best practices for the safety of all.
The primary purpose of our web page is to educate citizens in the importance of being able to take care of themselves until emergency personnel arrive, save lives, reduce injuries and protect property. Our web page presents information and guidance on actions to take to enhance survival skills in the event of natural and/or man-made disasters. You will have a better chance of surviving and recovering from major disasters if you understand the dangers that are facing you, make your own preparations and learn what actions you should take at the time of an emergency.
