Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption

In 2006, Colorado voters approved Referendum E, expanding the senior property tax exemption to include "qualifying disabled veterans."

To qualify, the veteran must have received a "permanent and total" disability rating from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs due to a service-connected disability.  Qualifying disabled veterans who have owned and occupied the property as their primary residence as of January 1 of this year may apply.

Application forms will soon be available from the Colorado Division of Veterans Affairs. Their telephone number is 303.343.1268 or click here to visit them on the web.

The application deadline is July 1.

For more information about either program, please contact the Adams County Assessors Office at 303-654-6038.
