Mail-In Ballot Drop-Off Locations

If you will not be at your registered address during this year's election, or would like to vote a mail-in ballot, you need to complete a Mail-in Ballot Application.

Active military personnel stationed overseas may obtain a mail-in ballot for a Primary Election (Major Party Affiliations Only) and/or General Election by completing a federal postcard application.  To learn more go to Military and Overseas Voter Information.

You may submit your application in person, by mail or fax (303.920.7888) to our office.  Click below to download the Mail-in Ballot Application form.

A request for a mail-in ballot made by letter must contain the following information (C.R.S. 1-8-104(1)):

  1. Your Printed Name
  2. Your Residential Address
  3. Mailing Address to send your ballot if different from your residential address
  4. Your Date of Birth
  5. Your Signature

If this information is not provided, you may not receive a mail-in ballot according to the rules established by the Secretary of State (C.R.S. 1-8-104(6)).

If you wish to have the mail-in ballot mailed to you, the application can be submitted beginning January 1st  of the year the election is held, and we must receive the application in our office no later then 5:00 PM on the seventh day prior to the election for which you are making your mail-in ballot request (C.R.S. 1-8-104(3)).

A mail-in ballot can be picked up in person until 5:00 PM on the Friday prior to the election for which you are completing your mail-in ballot application.

All mail-in ballots must be returned to either the Adams County Election Department, one of our Adams County Motor Vehicle Offices, or other official designated drop-off site by 7:00 PM the day of the election. If the ballot is returned by mail, it must reach our office by 7:00 PM the day of the election. Postmarks do not count; the County Clerk must actually receive the voted ballot by 7:00 PM on Election Day. Any ballots received after this time will not be counted according to law.

Parents cannot complete an application for children who are registered voters, nor can a spouse complete an application for his or her spouse. Each application for mail-in ballot must be signed by the applicant.

Permanent Mail-In Voter Status -You may also apply for Permanent Mail-In Voter Status.  The application for permanent mail-in voter status can be submitted in writing or by fax, using a form furnished by the County Clerk or in the form of a letter.  The application must contain the same information (listed above) that would be submitted with a normal Mail-In ballot request and indicate you wish to become a permanent mail-in voter.
